Bumblebee: Your gymnasts will be buzzzzzzzing with excitement when they fly into the gym! This week is all about stingers, Queen bee's and, of course, sticking our landings in honey! Bumblebee week is a great plan to use toward the beginning of a session to reinforce new skills and encourage gymnasts to complete foundational skills independently. This plans also comes with an entire list of songs to use for warm up or when you buzzzz from one rotation to the other.
KABOOM!: Let's get LOUD with our landings! This week is all about making a KABOOM sound with a two foot or ‘squeezy body’ landing. KABOOM week is all about making some powerful, strong and meaningful NOISE. Your gymnasts will feel so powerful at the end of this week!
Hickory, Dickory Dock: Tick Tock, Tick Tock! This week filled with stations around learning a beginning lever using tons of ‘tick tock’ noises to help us along the way. From kicking up to a handstand to leave a footprint on a clock, to ‘quiet like a mouse’ kicks, this week is full of tick tock-y surprises and upside down gymnastics!
Bird Week: Bird week is all about having a blast while getting sticks for our nests, hatching some eggs and flying down a low beam. There are three warm-up options included with this lesson plan (in case you don’t want to put “The Chicken Dance” on repeat all week!)
Bird week compliments both KABOOM and Bumblebee week nicely!
Lion lunge: ROARRRRR! ‘Lion lunge’ is a technique to teach your gymnasts what lunge position is and how to do it. Gymnasts hit their lunge position, bring their hands up into fierce lion paws and ROAR! From ‘stalking our prey’ on beam to playing with a big ‘ball of yarn’ in a handstand, this week is a ROARing good time!
